The team was assigned to execute the design for Season 1 Episode 5 of Drag Race Philippines, specifically for the “Pink, Pak, Boom” runway category of Turing. This piece draws inspiration from Twiggy, a cultural icon of 1960s British society. It also pays homage to the roots of drag queen culture, originating from O Bar in Pasig, Philippines, a venue celebrated for its vibrant daily performances by drag artists. The design embodies the establishment’s ethos and the essence of entertainment, with visual references to O Bar’s distinctive pink door and prominent letter “O” signage.
The look featured a hand-beaded halter top elegantly draped around the shoulders, creating a flowing effect that accentuated the upper body. The beadwork was arranged to form a sculptural draping silhouette, blending structure and fluidity. This piece was worn during the premiere event of Drag Race Philippines, reflecting both glamour and craftsmanship in its design.
Featured Breakdown:
Each bead was individually hand-stitched onto a sheer mesh base to achieve a seamless drape and reflective brilliance under stage lighting. Beads ranging across the ROYGBIV spectrum were layered to create vibrant texture and visual depth. The cascading arrangement from the neckline to the torso allowed movement and light to emphasize the piece’s sculptural and fluid qualities.
